About IMCAFS
IMCAFS features two separate but collaborative programs. The IMCAFS-SUCCESS program (Sustainable Coastal Communities and Ecosystems) emphasizes coastal resources, aquaculture and fisheries management, under the leadership of the University of Rhode Island’s Coastal Resources Center (URI-CRC).
The IMCAFS-GLOWS program (Global Water for Sustainability) focuses on integrated management of freshwater resources, through a consortium led by Florida International University (FIU). The program is implementing multi-site, on-the-ground projects in Integrated Coastal Management and Integrated Water Resources Management in East Africa (Kenya & Tanzania), Central and South America (Nicaragua, Ecuador, Peru), and India (Rajasthan State).
On-site projects are complemented by training and capacity building activities, the establishment of regional learning networks, and the application of science to management and good governance.
