The Rapid City Police Department has placed 23-year-old Vincent Mousseaux under arrest in connection with the March 8th murder of Deziree Martinez at their residence of 401 E. North Street. On the afternoon of March 9th, Mousseaux was placed under arrest for First Degree Murder and two counts of Aggravated Assault. At approximately 8:30 a.m. on March 8th, police were called to the address for a report of an unconscious subject. Shortly after arrival, police determined the subject was deceased with indications of trauma on her body. A crime scene was established and members of the Criminal Investigations Division were called to the location. During the subsequent investigation, police learned that Martinez, Mousseaux, and a third individual had been inside the room at 401 E. North Street in the late evening hours of March 7th. At some point during the gathering, an argument broke out. Mousseaux had attempted to stab Martinez when the third individual stepped in to defend Martinez. Mousseaux attempted to stab the third individual (Aggravated Assault count #1) before that person grabbed the knife from Mousseaux. Mousseaux then grabbed another knife and chased the third individual from the residence (Aggravated Assault count #2). Mousseaux then returned to the room and stabbed Martinez multiple times before fleeing the address. Mousseaux would later be located by police in the area of Riley Avenue in the early morning hours of March 8th after being reported a suspicious subject in that area. Mousseaux was intoxicated at the time of his contact with police, and was placed under arrest for a Probation Hold before being transported to the Pennington County Jail. It’s worth noting: At no point in the evening hours of March 7th or the early morning hours of March 8th were police ever notified of any disturbances in the area of 401 E. North Street. The investigation into the homicide is being led by the Rapid City Police Department, with assistance from the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office.
